To enhance my knowledge of Learning Management Systems, I’ve challenged myself to post a new blog every day for the next 30 days.
I just finished a great course at Commonwealth University (formerly Bloomsburg University) called IDT-588 Learning Management System Administration. I took this course as a non-degree student to expand (and refresh) upon my educational technology experience.
If you have an interest in instructional technology, I would highly recommend that you check out this program. Rated second nationally among top online schools for instructional technology, this experience did not disappoint.
AI Has Entered the Room
As part of the course, I was able to play around in sandbox versions of both Brightspace and Docebo. A lot of the functionality has not changed, the only real difference I see is the introduction of AI. Brightspace takes the lead on this in my opinion. Back in May, I had the opportunity to attend the Educause Demo Day for LMS Platforms. I found that AI was the hot topic of the day and Brightspace takes the lead on this with the introduction of some really cool features. These platforms now integrate AI that will actually create new content directly from your syllabus. This is mind blowing to me. My only disappointment is that we were not able to test this out in our sandbox versions. So, my question is this. Is the extra cost of these features worth it? Will this AI generated content replace the value of an instructional designer.
